Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

Remove +/- 4,600 sq. ft. of the existing herringbone patterned, deteriorating, and damaged concrete brick pavers and replace with +/- 4,600 sq. ft. of new, herringboned patterned concrete brick pavers within the four (4) areas within the Log Jam parking lot and behind the businesses along the 200 block of S Bridge Street. Please see Attachment A: Project Location Maps and Attachment B: Scope of Work. The bid specifications, outlined in Attachment B: Scope of Work, are intended as a guideline for the Contractor performing the brick paver removal and replacement services. In practice, it may be necessary to modify these duties or add to them. Major deviations from these guidelines are not anticipated. Please see Attachment B: Scope of Work and Attachment D: Sample Contract. The City of Grand Ledge is contemplating the award of a fixed lump sum contract to be billed monthly. All work must be completed by Thursday, October 31, 2024. The city makes no guarantees as to the total amount of compensation that the Contractor may earn and reserves the right to limit the number of services the city requests the Contractor provide. The city reserves the right to use any other means it may desire or determine for the purpose of this project.) add End date Proposals, and any questions related to the RFP, may be directed to: Amee King, Assistant City Manager 310 Greenwood Street, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837 517-622-7925 aking@cityofgrandledge.com The City of Grand Ledge requests sealed bid proposals for Brick Paver Replacement Services in four (4) separate areas behind the businesses within the 200 Block of S Bridge Street between W River Street and W Jefferson Street and in the Log Jam parking lot, as noted in Attachment A: Project Location Maps. The successful contractor will provide all equipment, materials, and labor for the services and brick paver replacements on the City of Grand Ledge-owned and managed property. The City of Grand Ledge does not guarantee a minimum value for the contract. Contractors with demonstrated experience in brick paver replacement services, with an interest in making their services available to the City of Grand Ledge, are invited to respond to the RFP. The submitted proposals will be used as a basis for awarding work. Tentative Bid Award Monday, August 26, 2024 The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to award the contract to other than the low bidder, to accept any or all alternatives, to waive irregularities and/or informalities, and, in general, to make the award in any manner deemed by it, in its sole discretion, to be in the best interest of the owner. 1. The Contractor shall ensure that all work to remove and replace the pavers will be done efficiently throughout the project to ensure pedestrian traffic remains safe with no trip hazards. No section of sidewalk should remain without pavers after the end of a workday unless there are extenuating circumstances and prior approval has been given by the Public Services Superintendent or designee. a. Seams between the new paver and the old paver are acceptable while work progresses. b. The seams shall be blocked off with an ADA-compliant pedestrian barricade 2. The Contractor is responsible for contacting MISS DIG before the commencement of work. 3. The Contractor is responsible for coordinating with the Public Services Superintendent or designee, to ensure the designated work area is properly blocked off for vehicles and pedestrians. 4. Work will be conducted between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, depending upon weather conditions. 5. The Contractor shall carefully note the existing herringbone pattern and then remove and dispose of existing brick pavers and sand-setting beds to the concrete sub-base in square foot sections that can be properly replaced by the end of each workday, including final compaction. 6. The Contractor shall ensure that each section where brick pavers are removed has bedding sand of approximately 1" to 1.5". The bedding sand material shall be screened, loose, and uncompacted. 7. The Contractor shall replace each section with the "Endura Blend - Hollandstone Premier" concrete brick pavers, or approved equivalent, in replicating the existing herringbone patterns with a soldier course banding to match the old pattern, as noted in the project photos. 8. The Contractor shall ensure that all brick pavers are installed proud (higher) than the adjacent surfaces. 9. The Contractor shall compact the pavers with a Limestone base to the appropriate depth of the setting bed to ensure the compacted pavers are flush with adjacent surfaces, free of dips, pooling water, or high spots. 10. The Contractor shall sand sweep joints with Polymeric Sand compound, installed to the full depth of the paver in compliance with the manufacturer's specification, and utilize a plate compactor with a paver pad installed for compacting the pavers with vibration. 11. The Contractor shall ensure that all residue from the Polymeric Sand is removed from the paver surface. 12. The Contractor shall water the Polymeric Sand in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, taking care to not wash the sand out of the paver joints
