Renovation of an educational facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 3,100-square-foot, four-story above grade educational facility.

Bid Package 10.0- Specialties (Prequalified Subcontractors) *BNBuilders, Inc. is the CM/Contractor for this UC San Diego project. The CM/GC is intending to prequalify/bid on this package, however UC San Diego will receive and review all bids for this bid package. Please see below for additional information. The Bioengineering Powell-Focht Bioengineering Teaching Lab is an approximately 3,500 SF Bioengineering teaching lab within the basement of Powell-Focht Bioengineering Hall. The proposed space is currently office space that was originally intended to support wet lab use. Renovated space to include an instructional wet lab including separate tissue culture room, makers space, and support space. Project requirements include the complete renovation of an existing space, including install of new Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems utilizing existing building systems. Also included in this project are new restrooms to accommodate additional occupancy with the new Bioengineering teaching lab. The University has bid and awarded a CM at Risk Contract to BNBuilders, Inc. (hereafter "CM/Contractor"). CM/Contractor is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequent subcontractor packages, including this package. The successful Subcontractor Bidder shall sign a Subcontract Agreement directly with CM/Contractor, and shall be bound by all the terms of the contract between University and CM/Contractor. Refer to "AGREEMENT (CMAR with GMP)," which contains the contract between University and CM/Contractor, attached to the subcontract bidding documents and incorporated by this reference. Bid Package 10.0 Specialties (this contract): This Bid Package consists of millwork, visual display boards, fire extinguishers and cabinets, FRP, toilet accessories, and signage. The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: C-6 and C-45 and C-61 or B In addition, the University and BNBuilders, Inc. are committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the contract between the University and the CM/Contractor, and to pay prevailing wage at the location of work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. Contractors and subcontractors on all public works projects awarded on or after April 1, 2015, must use the DIR's upgraded electronic certified payroll reporting (eCPR) system to furnish certified payroll records (CPRs) to the Labor Commissioner. Contractors and subcontractors who have been submitting PDF copies of their CPRs for earlier projects must also begin using the new system. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
