Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Charlottesville, Virginia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 62,000-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

This project is to design and construct a 61,500 square foot facility with a 400 student per day capacity that is a resource for the entire Division. It is strategically geographically located to provide access to interdisciplinary, project-based, specialized programming. It will also serve as an interface between the school, community and professional organizations that provide out-of-building authentic learning experiences such as internships, and other work and community-based opportunities. Transportation to Albemarle Career Exploration Academy Lambs Lane is provided by the Division from all three feeder patterns to ensure equitable opportunities to all students. It is a facility that is an extension of the modernization projects at each base high school, in that it will house a variety of learning spaces and technical resources. The project shall be LEED certified and comply with the Virginia High Performance Buildings Act. Project is included in Albemarle County Fiscal Year 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of January 7, 2026, project bid and contractor and design team have been identified. Construction underway, completion expected end of 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
