The Town of Greenwich reserves the right to reject any and all bids not deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Greenwich, or to accept that bid which appears to be in the best interest of the Town of Greenwich. The Town of Greenwich reserves the right to waive any informalities in or reject any or all bids, or any part of any bid. This specification will be used for providing and installing various heights of chain link fencing and highway guardrail throughout the Town of Greenwich, CT. Work will include general repairs to existing fencing as well as new fencing as directed by the Building Construction & Maintenance or Highway Divisions of DPW. Contractor is to respond to a work request within 48 hours. The Building Construction & Maintenance Division of the Department of Public Works will direct all work. Work cannot be started under this contract without this Division's approval. The Town of Greenwich will only accept new materials in executing Town projects. The Contractor will not use any bent or used materials. Contractors will follow ASTM A90, A123, A153, A392, A428, A491, A817, A824, C94, F567, F626, F900, F1043, F1083, 29 CFR1926 and this specification for installing chain link fencing. Items such as gates, labor rates and overhead & profit are a single unit cost and will not be converted to a linear cost per foot. All pricing for the following items is requested on the Reply Sheets. CHAIN LINK FENCE - General description - Labor, material and equipment to install , 2" wire mesh , 9 gauge wire with 2.0 oz./ft2 of zinc coating applied. All fence to have a 1- 5/8" diameter top and bottom rail, SS40, install line, end, corner and pull posts, SS40, at diameters listed below. Install all post footings 42" below grade, 10' centers or less, plumb and aligned and at correct height. Excavate post footings 8 inches greater than post diameter listed. Backfill footing with 3,000 psi concrete, vibrated and crowned 3" below finished surface. All galvanized or zinc plated hardware to include: post caps, rail ends, brackets, straps, nuts, bolts, tie wire, and tension bars. Fabric shall be installed 2" above ground surface and will be pulled tight to prevent sagging and provide uniform appearance with fabric attached to posts at 15" intervals. SWING GATES - Labor, material and equipment to install a double 4'x 8' swing gate (8'x 8' opening) with galvanized hinges and locking hardware. Gates to be 1-5/8" pipe, SS40 welded frame with 2" square, 9 gauge mesh applied, follow specification for applying chain link mesh in item A. Include 2 -4" galvanized gate posts, excavate minimum 16" diameter, 42" below surface. Back fill excavation with 3,000 psi concrete. All galvanized hardware to include: 180 degree hinges (4), NoLift-Off type, latch permitting operation form both side with padlock provision, and drop pin.
