As of May 2, 2025, this project is included in the City's 2025-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). It is currently in the design phase. A timeline for construction has not yet been established. Funding is allotted for FY 2025. T95 - Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at School Crosswalks DESCRIPTION: The project consists of installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) at four crosswalk locations, including high visibility crosswalk markings, signing, pavement markings, and curb ramps as needed at the following intersections: 9th Ave SE and 226th St SE, 104th Ave NE and NE 200th St, 19th Ave SE. and 242th St SE, and 112th Ave NE and the entrance to the business center. JUSTIFICATION: Based on the City of Bothell Road Safety Strategic Plan, this project is listed as priority #1 for the Spot Safety Improvement Project. Though there are no serious accidents, there are high risk factors identified in these corridors where the AR is higher than acceptable level for such a corridor. In addition, the report found that there are high risk factors present in these corridors. FUTURE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING (M & O) COSTS: The future M&O costs were developed by analyzing the infrastructure. TIMING PRIORITY CONSIDERATIONS: Federal safety grant funding was awarded to the City in 2022 with additional funds awarded in 2024. The City is committed to completing the project by 2026 per the schedule in the grant award. PROJECT COMMENCEMENT REQUIREMENTS: Project has secured funding and has begun. PROJECT STOPPING POINT(S): Project spending is not authorized in excess of adopted funding resources. STATUS: Project is under design.
