Update:Replace driveways and 8 ramps along the west side of 104th Ave NE and Kaysner Way from NE 185th St to SR 522. This will improve pedestrian access to the Sound Transit bus rapid transit (BRT) station that will be located at the NE 185th St / 104th Ave NE intersection. Project is included in City of Bothell Fiscal Year 2025-2031 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- T107 - Downtown Sound Transit Access - 104th Ave NE DESCRIPTION: Replace driveways and 8 ramps along the west side of 104th Ave NE and Kaysner Way from NE 185th St to SR 522. This will improve pedestrian access to the Sound Transit bus rapid transit (BRT) station that will be located at the NE 185th St / 104th Ave NE intersection. JUSTIFICATION: The existing sidewalks in the downtown area were constructed in excess of 20 years ago. As most of the downtown area is redeveloped, pedestrian facilities are being brought to current standards; however, redevelopment will not happen on all downtown streets thus leaving areas of sidewalks in very poor condition. The streets most affected by lack of redevelopment are the north-south streets between the main transit corridor, NE 185th St., and the downtown businesses on Main Street, one of which is 104th Ave NE. FUTURE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING (M & O) COSTS: This project replaces existing driveways and ramps that are non-compliant. There will be no increase in maintenance costs. TIMING PRIORITY CONSIDERATIONS: This project will be funded by a potential Sound Transit 3 (ST3) access grant. Work would begin on this project if the grant is awarded and would be worked on so as to ensure completion by the time the SR 522 - NE 145th St / SR 522 Bus Rapid Transit Stride line begins service. PROJECT COMMENCEMENT REQUIREMENTS: Work will not begin unless the ST3 grant is awarded. PROJECT STOPPING POINT(S): Work will not begin unless the ST3 grant is awarded. STATUS: Working with Sound Transit to agree on estimated cost of the project relative to the scope of work prior to entering into an agreement for project completion.
