Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Roxbury, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

The selected contractor will be responsible for all phases of repair, including removal of blocks where necessary, loose cement on bridge structure and adjacent wingwalls. Contractor selection will be based on experience in repair, completed projects, experience and other factors deemed to be in the best interest of the town. Bidders shall include all costs for material, labor, insurance, permits, and/or other prices pertaining to this procurement. Bridge No. 11906 Structure Type: 14' Steel Arch Year Constructed: 1940 Inspection Date: October, 2016 Previous Overall Rating / Condition: 6 Bridge Width: 21' inside parapets, 24.3' out to out Assessment Date: September 28, 2022 New Assessment: 5 / Fair Field Observations o Approach roadway is in satisfactory condition, recently chip sealed. o No approach guide rails present. Wood guard posts without cable railing adjacent edge of pavement do not meet current safety standards. o Stone masonry parapets do not meet current design standards (not crashed tested) and exhibit loose stones and missing mortar, especially cap stones. o Stone masonry spandrel walls and wingwalls are in fair condition with up to -10% of substructure exhibiting loose stones and missing mortar, needing repointing. o The steel arch is in good condition given the age ofthe structure. o Concrete arch footings are in satisfactory condition, stone masonry sub-footings are in poor condition and exhibit numerous voids and missing mortar, especially at the N.E. comer where the sub-footing is undermined up to 18" due to poor channel alignment. o Roadway embankment at the N.E. comer exhibits significant erosion adjacent wingwall. o Upstream channel exhibits very poor alignment causing scour and erosion at the N.E. comer. Recommended Maintenance / Rehabilitation Items Rehab: Repoint stone masonry throughout, provide new concrete toe walls to protect stone sub-footings, riprap to protect the upstream N.E. comer, install metal beam guiderail with strong posts at the parapet ends. Without Rehabilitation: Replace in ~ 20+- years, with Rehab, Replace in ~ 30+- years.
