Site work, remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility; for the renovation of a military facility; and for site work for a military facility.

This is a Design-Bid-Build (DBB) construction project to complete the installation and start up of four natural gas solid desiccant dehumidifiers in Building 101 of NSA Mechanicsburg and incidental related work. Question Deadline 09/06/2024 RFIs must be submitted in writing to Francis Caruso at francis.a.caruso10.civ@us.navy.mil and Nathan Dallas at nathan.r.dallas.civ@us.navy.mil SCOPE OF WORK Mechanical: Each bay will have a standalone natural gas desiccant dehumidifier. The design conditions are to reach a 50% relative humidity where peak conditions are 130 grains moisture per lb. of dry air and the dry bulb temperature is 82 degrees. These conditions are at a 0.4% frequency of occurrence according to ASHRAEs Fundamentals Handbook 2001. Current units pull in 1850 CFM of outside air per bay. Each dehumidifier will need to remove 55lbs of moisture per hour to maintain the design conditions. Therefore, the basis of design for our equipment is a Munters HCD-2250. Equipment will be on a new concrete equipment pad. Each unit will have two ducts penetrate the outside wall to receive and expel outside air. 3/4 inch natural gas lines will tee into the existing 2-1/2 inch line running down the spine of the building, sized according to the longest branch method using Table 402.4(3) in the 2006 International Fuel Gas Code for units drawing their maximum of 200 cubic feet per hour of natural gas with a longest length of 650 feet. Electrical: Installation of the dehumidifier units will require modifications to the existing electrical systems. Per manufactures data the dehumidifiers operate on a circuit rated at 460 volts, 3 phase, 60Hz. The scope for the electrical contractor will be multi-faceted including pulling new wire, installing new conduit, removing existing circuit breakers, installing new circuit breakers, installing and wiring disconnect switches and outlets, and coordinating with the mechanical contractor. For each dehumidifier unit a 20-amp service outlet and a separate disconnect switch will need to be installed on the wall nearest to the unit. Power for each dehumidifier will come from the nearest electrical panel that has spare capacity and is in each bay where the dehumidifiers are being installed. All new wiring to be installed in new conduit and all wires and panels must be labeled (using a label maker,
