Each bid must be submitted on the Road Commission's form in a sealed envelope bearing the name of the bidder and marked "CARBIDE CUTTING EDGE 2024". The Board reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to waive defects and to accept the proposal that in the opinion of the Board is in the best interest of the Leelanau County Road Commission. BLADE:
o Cutting edges will be tungsten carbide inserted with a 1" pass, with carbide Embedding(impregnation) on front side of cutting edge.
o The groove for the carbide inserts shall be milled in the center of the blade edge.
o The embedding shall be crushed carbide that shall be the "blocky" type which penetrates and compacts in the mold matrix.
o The crushed carbide shall be applied in a hot wire(TIG) processed to a puddle depth of 3/16" in the parent metal. LENGTH & WIDTH:
o Length of the blade to be 48", width of 6" and thickness of %" minimum. CARBIDE:
o The insert shall be high shock WC grade of Virgin Tungsten carbide with 10-12% Cobalt content
o Hardness shall be 87.5 (minimum) to 89.0 (maximum) Rockwell "A" scale
o Transverse Rupture Strength shall be 350,000 to 400,000 P.S.I. PUNCH:
o All blades shall be furnished with appropriate bolt holes counter sunk; required per Society of Automotive Engineers specification no. J740 hole spacing (3", 3", 12").
o Dimensional tolerances shall be +/- 1/16"
o Non-accumulative; hole size, 11/16" for 5/8" bolts or 27/32" for %" and spacing shall be DOT-standard. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
o Each blade Section shall be identified with manufactures mark, stamped or stenciled.
