The City of Greenville is issuing a request for proposals from planners, architects, and landscape architects to develop a set of design guidelines for the Downtown Central Business District (CBD) and adjacent areas currently under the purview of the Design Review Board. The final deliverable is to be a well-researched, community-responsive, and graphic-driven document. The measure of success will be approval by City Council. The selected firm will be expected to familiarize themselves with all related and existing plans and guidelines, processes, and relevant boards and commissions. The selected firm must evaluate existing conditions; research past studies and current urban design trends; meet regularly with City staff and a project steering committee; meet with the general public as outlined; and stay abreast of ongoing developments within the downtown and adjacent neighborhoods throughout the lifetime of this project. The goal for delivery shall be a set of guidelines which shall serve as the document of consideration for the City's Design Review Board, Historic Review Board, and staff as they review and approve new construction, additions, renovations, and demolitions within the relevant overlay areas. Any revisions to this Request for Proposals will be issued and distributed as an addendum.
