MATERIALS TESTING CONSULTANTS, INC. (MTC) has completed a geotechnical investigation and geotechnical analysis for the design and construction of four replacement concrete box culvert structures in Galien Township, Three Oaks Township and Weesaw Township, Berrien County. The project owner is the Berrien County Road Department (BCRD). MTC has been retained to provide geotechnical engineering services. The scope of this study in general includes the following: o performance of a field investigation including soil test borings and field engineering reconnaissance; o review of recovered samples by one of our engineers and assignment of technical soil classifications; o performance of laboratory testing on selected soil samples; o engineering evaluation of encountered conditions with respect to the proposed construction; and o preparation of this report. Presented herein are descriptions of our understanding of the design considerations, the investigation program, encountered conditions and engineering recommendations. The Appendix contains the report limitations, soil boring logs and laboratory test data. The Owner anticipates that construction can begin no earlier than ten (10) days after receiving notice of award of contract, or on the date agreed upon with the Engineer. In no case shall any work be commenced prior to receipt of formal notice of award by the Department. The Contractor shall prepare and submit a complete, detailed Progress Schedule to the Engineer prior to start date. The Progress Schedule shall include the planned dates or work days that the contractor plans on working. Contract shall be completed at the earliest date as possible but no later than June 1st, 2025.
