The Town is seeking two separate projects at the same location due to separate funding sources: flood repairs, and trail improvements. Contractors are encouraged to bid on both projects. The Town of Marshfield is seeking proposals for some improvements to the Thompson Road trail, utilizing grant funding from the Northern Forest Center. Several sections of the Thompson Road are historically wet, poorly drained, and/or at too low a grade to avoid periodic flooding from the beaver pond on the west side of the trail. The Contractor will make the following improvements to these areas to make these sections of the Thompson Road sustainable for the long-term, for continued year-round recreational use by walkers, bikers, (and in season) skiers and snowmobilers, as well as for periodic maintenance access by small tractors and trucks: o Restore the ditches in the areas labeled B, C, D, H & I on the attached orthophoto map. o Add 3" minus to the below grade and/or eroded areas of the above-referenced map areas, particularly the longer stretch (H & I). o Improve drainage in these areas by adding/replacing culverts (with beaver protection included on them) as needed. Bids must be lump sum, including all work listed in the included Scope of Work and discussed at the site visit. Please include a schedule for completing the project. It is the Town's desire to have this project completed in 2024. The Contractor is responsible for purchasing materials for the project, as well as supplying and maintaining any road signs needed at the parking area for safety. Materials to be used on the project will be exempt from sales tax; the Town will supply a tax-exempt form. The Town reserves the right to waive any informality or minor defects, or to accept or reject any or all bids. Award of the contract is contingent on funding.
