Site work, asbestos abatement and renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Colchester, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center; for site work for a clubhouse / community center; and for asbestos abatement for a clubhouse / community center.

Question Deadline 10/10/2024 Any questions concerning this bid may be answered by contacting Joseph Leone, Public Works Director at (860) 537-7288. No right shall accrue to any person submitting a bid until such bids have been accepted and contract awarded in writing by the duly authorized representative of the Colchester Board of Selectmen. The Colchester Board of Selectmen reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to make such awards, including acceptance of other than the lowest bid, and to waive any informalities, omissions, excess verbiage, or technical defects in the Bidding, if, in the opinion of the Board of Selectmen, it would be in the best interest of the Town of Colchester to do so. The Town of Colchester (the Owner) is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for work to be performed at the Colchester Youth Center located at 40 Norwich Ave in Colchester, CT 06415. Key items of this work are: o Removal and replacement of existing 3rd floor stairs to meet building code o Installation of a 1hr fire exit hallway to the rear of the building o Relocation and installation fire exit and fire safety devices o Installation of guard fencing on the fire escape balcony o Removal and installation of exterior rear stair landing including concrete repair o 3rd floor lead paint abatement on walls windows and ceiling o Exterior door removal, block out, and siding installation o Concrete spall repair This building, built in 1872, is a remnant of the Wheeler Block known as the Ransom School Building and is on the US National Register of Historic Places. All modifications to this building must conform to the regulations of the Colchester Historic District Commission whose regulation can be found attached to this RFP as ATTACHMENT A. ATTACHMENT B illustrates the scope to aid the written description provided in this request for proposals. A Lead paint hazard is present in the work area, contractor shall take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the public and of the people on site. Please see the "E. Lead Abatement & Disposal" section of the "SUPPLEMENTAL CONDITIONS" section.
