Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Project consists of 4,487 sf of new 6" thick reinforced concrete pavement. The City Reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids, and may accept that which is most advantageous to the City of Mt. Vernon. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Scope of the project will include the following: 1. Remove all necessary existing concrete, asphalt, & aggregate materials to complete project as shown on plans. The proposed pavement section shall be 6" thick so at the most, 6" of material will need to be removed. The cost for this removal shall be incidental to the cost of the project. A City dump site will be provided for clean concrete only, not excess soil & rock. 2. Removal - Concrete, asphalt, & or rock - This quantity is shown on the bid schedule. Note that the extent of various materials required to be removed is unknown. It is required however to remove all materials necessary in order to install the 6" thickness of Proposed Concrete Alley. If the base grade after removal is down to bare dirt, then an additional amount of removal will be required in order to install some "Rock Compacted Subbase" at a min. of 4" thick. 3. The existing asphalt along the "Rare Restaurant" building shall be saw-cut prior to removal so as to minimize damage/disturbance along this building. Contractor shall repair/replace any damaged pavement surfaces. This repair cost shall be incidental to the cost of the project. 4. Class PV concrete w/ fiber shall be used. Pavement construction shall be completed in accordance with IDOT standard specifications. See IDOT specifications Section 420 & 1020. Concrete shall achieve a minimum compressive strength of 3500 psi in 3 days. The proposed concrete alley shall be 6" thick and reinforced with 12.5' x 8' - 8ga welded wire fabric sheets. Saw-cuts shall be performed as per IDOT Standards. 5. Expansion Joints - Expansion joints shall be 1/2 " thick and consist of preformed joint filler. Expansion Material Costs are incidental to the project. An expansion joint shall be installed at the west and east end of the project adjacent to the sidewalk. The new concrete abutting this sidewalk shall be pinned w/ smooth dowels to allow for expansion at the expansion joint. 6. The contractor shall be responsible for his own construction staking. The plans show dimensions to assist with the horizontal layout however the vertical profile shall be determined in the field at time of construction by the contractor & public works. Drain flow arrows are shown on the plans which indicate the general idea for grade/drainage. Existing spot elevations are also shown to assist w/ layout. 7.
