Site work and renovation of a water / sewer project in Somerville, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

Sub Bids: Roofing and Flashing, Metal Windows, Painting, Elevators, Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems, HVAC, Electrical Work. The project consists of the rehabilitation of the existing control tower at the Amelia Earhart Dam including upgrading plumbing, HVAC, electrical equipment, replacing the elevator, replacing roof, tower window curtain wall, windows, doors and finishes and installation of fire protection systems. The structure is surrounded by water on all sides. Access to the Tower is via moveable walkways not designed for heavy loads. Delivery of supplies may require cranes or other special handling techniques. The tower is about 70 feet tall from deck level to roof and the only current access to the upper floor is a narrow spiral staircase. The work is to be accomplished within 660 calendar days of a notice to proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $1,000 per day will be assessed if the work has not been completed in accordance with the provisions of the contract within the time specified (as extended by any authorized extension of time granted in accordance with the contract provisions). The proposed contract includes a combined requirement of 10.4% of the bid price for minority-owned business enterprises and women-owned business enterprises. Proposed MBE/WBE plans that include solely MBE or solely WBE , or do not include a reasonable amount by both MBE and WBE firms to meet the combined requirements, will not be considered responsive. The applicable local minority workforce utilization percentage is a minimum requirement of 15.3%. The applicable local women workforce utilization percentage is a minimum requirement of 6.9%. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid deposit, payable to the Department of Conservation and Recreation in the amount of 5% of the bid.
