Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Dekalb, Illinois. Design plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
As of October 30, 2025, design team identified. The project shall consist of, but not limited to, the following aspects: earth excavation and grading, aggregate base placement, HMA pathway paving, pedestrian upgrades, soil erosion and sediment control implementations, minor public utility improvements, pavement marking, and signage. Timeline - The project is was let in June 2024 with a start of construction anticipated in Spring of 2025 and must be completed by that August. Expected Problems - The following are issues that could be concern during the construction: o Sensitivity to work on easements o Tight drainage, embankment, and grading tolerances o Nearby industrial traffic. Selection Criteria - Proposals will be evaluated in accordance with the City of DeKalb QBS Policy and Procedures. Criteria for selection for this project is as follows: o Technical Approach (20%) o Firm Experience (20%) o Specialized Expertise (10%) o Staff Capabilities (Prime/Sub) (20%) o Past Performance (30%) Selection - Depending on the proposals received, City of DeKalb may select based on the written submittal or require interviews. Once a firm is selected, City of DeKalb will enter into contract negotiations with the top ranked firm.
