Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Fairfax, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The purpose of this project is to extend Government Center Parkway to connect Waples Mill Road (Route 655) with Jermantown Road (Route 6634) in the City of Fairfax, Virginia and Fairfax County, Virginia. It should be noted that the project limits straddle the line between the County and the City of Fairfax. The private street that currently connects to Jermantown, James Swart Circle, will be widened to accommodate the increased traffic between the two thoroughfares. Bike lanes and sidewalks will also be constructed to connect existing facilities. The Contractor shall achieve substantial completion of all work within 150 calendar days from full Notice to Proceed and achieve final completion and acceptance within 180 days from full Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages shall be assessed at $1,350 per day for each calendar day beyond the contract time limit during which the contract remains in an incomplete state.
