October 28, by 12:00 pm ET Questions from vendors due Chapel Hill Transit (CHT), the second largest transit system in North Carolina, is the public transportation provider for the Town of Chapel Hill, the Town of Carrboro, and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC). CHT provides over seven million annual rides in a service area of 62 square miles. The two towns and the university share annual operating and capital costs associated with CHT on a contractual basis. Phase 1: • Provides an evaluation review of the existing wireless communication system and provide any recommended upgrade/ replacement. • Identifies alternative wireless communication technology additions, upgrades, replacements and enhancements to meet CHT’s wireless communication objectives. • Identifies locations for placement of wireless communication infrastructure to minimize dead spots and maximize wireless communications to the CHT service area. • Where feasible, integrates with existing on vehicle technologies and provides inter-operability among other Town departments and neighboring agencies. Phase 2: • Prepare specifications that could be used to purchase new wireless communication technology. • Outline any training and training material needed to operate the new wireless communication system.
