Site work for a transportation facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.

Port Milwaukee owns roughly 14 miles of track and 56 switches. This is intended to be a rail maintenance contract. The maintenance work to be done will be determined by the Engineer or designated Port Milwaukee employee and will consist of typical rail system maintenance, including but not limited to: replacement of crossties and switch ties, gauging track, repairing frogs and switches. The Port has an immediate need for reconstruction of approximately 800 track feet of rail. This contract will extend from the day of award until December 31, 2025. Each bidder must submit a bid bond in the amount of 10 percent of its bid. The Board of Harbor Commissioners reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The Board of Harbor Commissioners will award this contract to the lowest reliable and competent bidder. In the case of a tie low bid, the Board of Harbor Commissioners reserves the right to determine the award. No bid will be considered as accepted until the Board of Harbor Commissioners votes to accept it. Question Deadline 11/15/2024 All questions related to this proposed contract or related to the interested bidders list must be directed in writing to PortFinance@milwaukee.gov. Questions received after this deadline or directed to other contacts at Port Milwaukee or the City of Milwaukee will not be recognized. Small Business Enterprise (SBE) participation of 5 percent for excavation, demolition, grading, trucking, or paving work is required on this contract, unless waived by the City. No SBE participation will be required for maintenance work on this contract. In accordance with Chapter 370 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances, SBE participants must be certified by the City of Milwaukee Office of Small business Development (OSBD). All contractors awarded a contract valued at $25,000 or more with SBE requirements shall participate in training on and report regular payments in the City of Milwaukee's Compliance Reporting and Certification System (CRCS). Contractors must complete the training no later than 30 days after the date of contract award. Throughout the contract term, Contractors are required to provide timely monthly payment information in the City's CRCS at online.
