Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in West Haven, Connecticut. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The City of West Haven, in partnership with the Land Trust of West Haven, invites professionals with ecological restoration and resiliency expertise and experience sourcing, planting, and maintaining NATIVE shoreline plants to help us create the West Haven Eco Park. The project will restore 1.5 coastal acres of highly trafficked public shoreline adjacent to the boardwalk to a native plant-based coastal ecosystem by removing invasive plants and planting more than 16,000 native trees, shrubs, and perennials. Maintaining the park for two years through watering, weeding, and removing and replanting dead plants is required. This project is being funded by a grant by the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), which has additional requirements to comply with State Government guidelines. DECD requires the following bonds for this project: A. 5% Bid Bond for projects exceeding $50,000 – Due at time of bid submission If awarded, B. 100% Performance Bond is required. The selected bidder will furnish the City with this bond within 5 days of being awarded the contract. C. 100% Labor & Materials Payment Bond for contracts exceeding $100,000. D. If a construction manager is employed, any subcontracts exceeding $100,000 shall be bonded or provided via certified check. The parties agree that time is of the essence in the performance of this Agreement. The term of the project, including the final completion date, shall be as set forth in the Contract. If the Contractor fails to complete the work within the time specified, as may be extended pursuant to the terms of the Contract, the Contractor shall pay to the Owner, as liquidated damages and not as a penalty, the sum of $100 per calendar day for each day beyond the completion date that the work remains incomplete. This amount represents a reasonable estimate of the damages the Owner will incur because of such delay. Questions regarding the Invitation to Bid l should be directed to Kathy Chambers (kchambers@westhaven-ct.gov). The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals if it deems such to be in the best interest of the City of West Haven. An Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Minority/Womens Business Enterprises are encouraged to apply. This contract is subject to state set-aside and contract compliance requirements
