Site work and paving for a road / highway in New Britain, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The project involves the design and construction of the relocation of the at-grade Pan Am railroad crossing. The existing crossing is located on Columbus Boulevard approximately 100 feet east of the Harry Truman Overpass (S.R. Route 71) and connects the CTfastrak multi-use trail to Columbus Boulevard. The project will relocate the existing crossing to the CTtransit local bus pulse point on Columbus Boulevard which will be approximately 300 feet east of Main Street. The new location will allow convenient access from the local bus pulse point and the City's Szczesny Parking garage to the CTfastrak Main Street Station and multi-use trail. As of November 27, 2024, this project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
