The Chatfield Dam and reservoir is a dam and artificial lake on the South Plate River, south of Littleton in Colorado, United States. The Government intends to rehabilitate the 48-inch diameter irrigation auxiliary pipe and optional work is anticipated for the rehabilitation of the 54-inch diameter irrigation auxiliary pipe. The 48-inch pipe appears to leak near the switch drain building through which water is transmitted to the Last Chance Ditch. The ground above the pipe is continuously wet as water is running permanently all year besides the period of late November through late February when it's out of service. An exposition of the pipe has revealed that one joint is leaking. The 54-inch pipe leads to the junction of a fish hatchery and continues to the city ditch on the right side of the valley to supply water for the Nevada Ditch. It has been observed a wet spot approximately above the cast iron tee, placed in 1991. Due to the proximity of the leak with the toe of the dam embankment, the pipe could not be exposed. The repair should occur at the interior face of the pipe which is a confined space. The 54-inch pipe runs water all year and only stops servicing for four days in February. The Contractor shall provide all equipment, labor, and materials to repair the existing leaking 48-inch diameter pipe and optionally repair the 54-inch diameter pipe to return the pipes to their respective functional states without leaks. The pipes must be repaired with products supplied by the contractor and installed per the manufacturer's recommendations and applicable standards and regulations for city water supply systems in order to extend the minimum service life for another 25 years or longer.
