SPECIFICATIONS Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Department is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to implement the project described in the attached engineered plan set. This project consists of the full depth replacement and mill and overlay of asphalt trail along specified regions of the Rio Grande Trail, Basaltmass Trail, Crystal River Trail, and North River Road in Pitkin and Garfield Counties, Colorado. Additionally, the project consists of the construction of retaining walls along specified regions of the Rio Grande Trail and Basaltmass Trail. The selected contractor will be held to high standards for minimizing impacts and disturbance to surrounding area of construction zones, disruption of trail use, as well as neighboring properties. The following values have been determined as critical for the successful completion of the project: 1. Quality 2. Integrity 3. Communication (Create a clear and transparent method for communication with county staff and the public.) 4. Timeframe/Availability/Phasing 5. Aesthetics (project should be sensitive to and complement the surrounding natural environment) 6. Sustainability (e.g. use of local resources where possible, reuse of materials where possible, etc.)
