City of Bristol is seeking proposals to provide chain link fencing and related services to the City of Bristol and Board of Education, through January 31, 2027. The City reserves the right to waive any informalities in any submission, to reject any and/or all submissions, and to accept the proposals that in its judgment are in its best interest. The City of Bristol will award the bid based on price, quality of service provided, and timeliness of services. TOLERANCES Standard mill tolerances shall be used for all framework members and chain link fabric. B. HEIGHT The total height of the fence shall be as specified with top fabric one inch above the top rail. C. FABRIC The fabric shall be aluminum coated steel chain link 48 to 120 inches high, No. 9 gauge wire woven in a 2" mesh. Both top and bottom selvage are to be knuckled. The fabric shall conform to ASTM Designation A 491-63T in its entirety. D. WEIGHT OF COATING The aluminum coating shall be a minimum of 0.40 ounces per square foot of wire for #9 gauge fabric. The weight of the coating shall be determined by the strip test as defined in ASTM Specifications A 428-58T. E. BOTTOM TENSION WIRE The bottom tension wire shall be No. 7 gauge aluminum coating spring coil or crimped wire. Minimum weight of aluminum coating shall be 0.40 ounces per square foot of wire surface. Tension wire shall be stretched taut from terminal to terminal post and securely fastened to each intermediate post six inches (6") above the grade line. Tension wire shall be attached to the fence fabric with aluminum hog rings every twenty four inches (24"). F. FABRIC CONNECTIONS The chain link fabric shall be securely fastened to all terminal posts using 3/16" X 3/4" tension bars and heavy 11 gauge tension bands. There shall be (1) band for each foot in the height of the fence. The fabric shall be fastened to all intermediate posts with #9 gauge tie wires, spacing not to exceed 14 inches apart. Fabric shall be tied to top rail with #9 gauge tie wires, spacing not to exceed twenty-four inches (24"). Fabric to be installed on inside of post unless otherwise specified. 14. Framework A. POSTS AND OTHER APPURTENANCES All posts and framework and other appurtenances used in the construction of this fence shall be hot dipped galvanized with a minimum of 1.8 ounces per square foot of surface or schedule 40 pipe. B. POST SCHEDULE OD Fence Height Intermediate Line Post Terminal, End, Pull Post 4' 2" 2 1/2" 5' 2" 2 1/2" 6' 2" 2 1/2" C. POST SCHEDULE WEIGHT 1-5/8" 2.27 lbs. per lineal foot 2" 2.72 lbs. per lineal foot 2-1/2" 3.65 lbs. per lineal foot D. GATE POSTS Posts for swing gates shall be standard weight pipe of the following nominal sizes and weights for each gate leaf: Gate Leaf up to 6' wide 3" O.D. Wt. 5.79 lbs. P.L.F. Gate Leaf over 6'-13' Wide 4" O.D. Wt. 9.1 lbs. P.L.F. Gate Leaf over 13'-18' Wide 6-5/8" O.D. Wt.18.97 lbs. P.L.F. Gate Leaf over 18' wide 8-5/8" O.D. Wt.24.70 lbs. P.L.F. E. POST SPACING Posts shall be evenly spaced in the line of fence no further apart than ten feet (10') on center. F. POST SETTINGS All posts shall be of sufficient length to extend 30" into concrete footings. No mushrooming of top surface will be allowed. All gate posts shall be of sufficient length to extend 36" into the concrete footings. G. TOP RAIL The top rail shall be 1-5/8" O.D. standard weight pipe, 2.27 lbs. per lineal foot, provided with couplings approximately every 20 feet. Couplings are to be outside sleeve type at least seven inches (7") long. The top rail is to pass through the line post tops and form a continuous brace from the end of each stretch of fence. The top rail to be securely fastened to the terminal posts by heavy pressed steel brace and malleable rail end connections. H. BRACES Brace pipe shall be the same as top rail and shall be installed midway between the top rail and the ground and extend from the terminal post to the first adjacent line post. Braces shall be securely fastened to posts by heavy pressed steel and malleable fittings, then securely trussed from line post to base of terminal post with a 3/8" truss rod and tightener. I. POST TOPS Post tops shall be of pressed or cast aluminum.
