Site work and paving for a civil project in Friday Harbor, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.
Project Summary This contract provides for improvements to 1.3 miles of Douglas/Bailer Hill Road on San Juan Island, San Juan County, WA. The existing road will be completely demolished, realigned, reprofiled and widened. The new roadway will have wide shoulders, vegetated filter strips, ditches, stormwater culverts, driveway transitions, intersection improvements and rockery walls. Work includes clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation and embankment, drainage, erosion control, traffic control; and other work, all in accordance with the Contract Plans, Contract Provisions, and the WSDOT Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construction, 2024 edition. Estimated Cost: $3.8 million Time for Completion: 100 working days ; physical completion to take place no later than August 29, 2025. Bidder Questions: In accordance with Standard Specification 1-02.4(1): Oral explanations, interpretations, or instructions given by anyone before the Award of a Contract will not be binding on San Juan County. Any information given a prospective Bidder concerning any of the Bid Documents will be furnished to all prospective Bidders as an Addendum if that information is deemed by San Juan County to be necessary in submitting Bids or if San Juan County concludes that the lack of the information would be prejudicial to other prospective Bidders. Bid Guarantee: A bid deposit in the amount of 5% of the total bid amount shall be submitted with each bid by check or money order, or a bid bond in lieu of deposit. Pre-Bid Conference: The County is not holding a pre-bid conference for this project. The project site is open to bidders for inspection. Rejection of Bids: San Juan County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids in the best interest of the County. Contract Bonds: The successful bidder shall provide executed payment and performance bonds for the full contract amount, in accordance with RCW 39.08.010. Prevailing Wages: Washington State wage laws and rules apply. In preparing a bid, contractors must use the prevailing wage rates in effect for San Juan County on the date bids are due, which may be viewed in person at Public Works or obtained on the L&I website.
