The City of Ottawa has a requirement for qualified contractors to provide all labour, equipment, and materials for the provision of grass mowing and trimming for the passive parkland and greenspace areas found within the Greenboro Parks System in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications of Request for Tender No. 15225-98836-T01. The period of contract shall be for the spring/summer/fall seasons of 2025 and 2026. The City may, at its discretion, extend the period of contract for up to three (3) additional spring/summer/fall seasons subject to satisfactory performance by the Contractor and provided the contract pricing, terms and conditions for the extended period are mutually acceptable to the City and the Contractor. The City and Contractor Will Mutually Agree Upon a Start Date for Mowing Operations. The Anticipated Yearly Start Date is the 1st Week of May but is Dependant on Weather and/or Grass Conditions. Scope of Work the City of Ottawa Parks Branch Maintains Approximately Twenty-seven (27) Parks and Seventeen (17) Pathway Links in the Greenboro Parks System. Properties Are to Be Mowed and Trimmed as Required in the Price Schedule, Bi-weekly, (Estimated at Twelve (12) Mowing Cycles a Season), Depending on Weather. Cutting Schedule Shall Be Prepared by the Successful Contractor and Approved by City Staff. The City May Authorize Additional (or Less) Mowing Cycles if Required. Any Authorized Additional Mowing Cycles Shall Be at the Unit Price Quoted Herein. Cutting & Trimming Operations Contractor Will Begin Operations at the Direction of the Parks Area Manager or His/her Designate. Contractor Must Have the Capability of Performing a Full Cut on a 7 (Seven) Day Cycle During Peak Growing Periods as Required on the Price Schedule. Contractor Will Cut and Trim All General Passive Park and Pathway Areas at Three (3) Inches (76.2 Mm) and Trim Around Trees, Structures and Sports Fields (Goalposts, Fence-lines, and Bleachers), Unless Otherwise Directed by Designate. The Mowing of Sports Fields is Not Part of This Contract. Sports Field Mowing Will Be Performed by Others. All Areas Greater Than 6" (150 Mm) in Width Are to Be Considered Part of Regular Grass Cutting Operations, With the Exception of Areas Under and Around Park Amenities Such as Benches, Trees, Garbage Cans, Etc. These Areas Are to Be Considered Part of Grass Trimming Operations. The Contractor is Required to Perform Grass Trimming Operations Using String Trimmers on a Bi-weekly Basis. Note: Care Must Be Taken Not to Damage the Objects That Are Being Trimmed, I.e. Bark on Trees and Shrubs.
