Pecos St. Federal Heights, CO 80260 Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District is seeking proposals from qualified bidders for the design, build and install of new drive unit controls for the Alpine Springs Gondola. Additional details are included in the attached Request for RFP. Hyland Hills is seeking an aerial lift technician/engineer to design, build, install and set up a new drive unit and controls on the Alpine Springs Gondola located within the water park. Question Deadline 01/31/2025 at 4:00 PM MT Questions are submitted online No, Questions from bidders and answers will be posted on online Contact: JR Bernizoni General Manager JBerninzoni@HylandHills.org Or Scott Haden Maintenance Manager SHaden@WaterWorldColorado.com Contracted work scheduled to begin no later than: 15Mar25 or once contract is released. Contracted work scheduled to end: 15May25 Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Performance Bond 100 % - Payment Bond 100 % The Alpine Springs gondola currently has a sabina DC regenerative drive and a Yan base 10 control system. It is a jig back pulse gondola in which the cabins do not travel around the bullwheels. There are 5 individual cabins on each side of the lift, East and West. Passengers are loaded and unloaded at both the Return (upper) and Drive (lower) terminals. After loading each cabin the doors are manually locked by the operators. The top operator (return) hits Ready (Reset) and then the bottom operator hits their Reset and Start to get the cabins moving. Once the cabins leave the terminal they automatically increase to operating speed. When the down going cabins reach tower 2 the speed is automatically lowered to approach speed, approximately 150 fpm. As the cabins enter the terminal the speed is further reduced to a docking speed of approximately 90 fpm and then automatically park. The operators will then manually unlock and open the cabin doors. After a dwell time to unload and load, the operators close and lock the doors. The top operator will signal Ready (Reset) and the drive operator will Reset and Start to begin the next trip, setting the cabins moving in the reverse direction. All low voltage controls will need to be rewired. There are 8 separate push-button locations. Each terminal has 4 push-button stations, 2 pedestals and 2 wall mounts. There will be 4 touchscreen HMIs. One in the motor room at the drive controls, a second at the return terminal main controls board, and one installed at each operator station (drive & return). The overall project will need to interface with the existing brake systems. The gondola has a diesel back-up evacuation engine which will also need to interface with the new system. With a new control system Overhead Cable Monitoring CPTSB Section 2.1.1.3.2.2 is required for the guy lines between the towers. The existing drive and electric motor are DC. Contractors should be prepared to explore converting the existing system to an AC motor and drive. The State would also like us to investigate some form of Cabin Door Fault Detection. The selected contractor will also need to ensure the new system meets the requirements of ANSI B77.1-2022 Section 2 Tramways in that the system will require Speed Regulation Checkpoint Monitoring Section 2.2.3.6, carrier parking and Carrier Over Travel Detection Section 2.2.3.2. The towers currently have a mercury based limit switch as well as a brittle bar loop for the tower deropement. Both systems will need to be updated and replaced. The project should include a proposal to replace the existing 24 pair 19 gauge comline. Roost Alpine Services, who currently maintains the lift, will be available onsite.
