General Requirements - Bidder Prequalification/Preregistration Required LOCATION OF IMPROVEMENT This project is located along Nelson Lake Rd, within Batavia Township, from 330 ft South of Main St to 215 ft North of Brenton Ave. All construction limits on each road and subsequent driveways shall be coordinated and approved by the Engineer before improvements are performed and any work begins. DESCRIPTION OF THE IMPROVEMENT This work shall consist of the placement of Bituminous Materials (Tack Coat), Hot Mix Asphalt Surface Removal Butt Joint, Hot Mix Asphalt Surface Removal Variable Depth, Hot Mix Asphalt Surface Course, Short-term Pavement Marking, and all incidental, appurtenant and collateral work therefor (collectively the "project") necessary to complete the project as shown on plans and as described herein. This project will include a 1 1/2 " overlay over the entire roadway. The project will also include various sections of 2" HMA removal and replacement as determined by the Township and/or their representative. Additionally, the contract includes HMA variable depth paving from approximately 330 ft south of Main Street to Deerpath Road in order to establish a centerline crown and create a consistent 2% grade slope across the roadway. The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting utility property from construction operations as outlined in Article 107.39 of the Standard Specifications. Any damage to the underground facilities caused by the Contractor shall be repaired to the satisfaction of the Department at the Contractor's expense, including temporary repairs which may be required to keep the facility operational while material is being obtained to make permanent repairs The contractor shall exercise due care and caution when working within the construction work zone. This shall include, but not be limited to, existing structure frames and grates, handholes, etc. which are located within the pavement. Any damages caused by the Contractor or his Subcontractors shall be repaired at the Contractor's expense, to the satisfaction of the Engineer. The Contractor shall be required to provide access to abutting properties at all times during the construction of the project. No material shall be left on or near the roadway during non-working hours.
