Amtrak is soliciting Letters of Interest from General Contractors interested in providing demolition services for the Michigan City Coaling Tower located in Michigan City, IN. Please direct responses to Vaughn.Chisholm@amtrak.com by 1/31/25. AMTRAK is initiating the procurement to select a General Contractor for the progressive removal of the entire Coaling Tower and adjacent buildings to 3 feet minimum below grade, off-site disposal of the removal debris, filling an existing at-grade vault, and all ancillary work required to accomplish these tasks and restore the site. The Work shall be conducted in 3 main phases, with each phase substantially complete as indicated: 1. Phase 1: Preparatory work to be completed prior to the Amtrak 14-day full-service outage. 2. Phase 2: Demolition of the portions of the Coaling Tower spanning over the tracks during the Amtrak 14-day full-service outage. 3. Phase 3: Demolition of the remaining portions of the Coaling Tower and adjacent buildings and site restoration after the Amtrak 14-day full-service outage.
