Priest Rapids Hatchery Raceway Bird Deterrence Cable Project Clarification Deadline 2/4/2025 12:00 AM The site is located at 29086 Highway 243 S. Mattawa, WA 99349. The Contractor shall furnish all materials, equipment, machinery, tools, plant, labor, and transportation to perform the work specified in these Contract Documents for the Priest Rapids Hatchery Raceway Bird Deterrence Cable Project located at Priest Rapids Hatchery located at the Priest Rapids Dam, 29086 Highway 243 S, Mattawa, Washington. The Priest Rapids Hatchery is located at the Priest Rapids Dam in Mattawa WA. Priest is a Fall Chinook hatchery. There are five raceway ponds located at the hatchery. The ponds are labeled A thru E. Each pond has a steel support frame that is bolted together. The frame supports the bird deterrent netting. The frames have become loose from the wind. Each pond, A thru E needs to have the bolts connecting the frame tightened up before the netting can be installed. Additionally, after the frame is tightened up a new bird deterrence cable system will need to be installed onto Pond A. Specific Work to be Performed - Each pond's framework has 250-300 5/8" bolt and nuts that will need to be fully tightened. The threads on each bolt will need to be scoured after tightening or a form of thread locker needs to be applied to keep nuts from backing back out. The use of some sort of boom truck may be needed to perform the work and lift a manlift into the raceways to and to access the interior framework. After all the frames have been tightened up Pond A will have a new bird deterrence cable system installed. The cable consists of a 3/32" uncoated stainless-steel cable. The cable will have a 7 1/2" spacing spanning north to south across the raceway. The cables will be connected to the frame using a fabricated steel bracket, aluminum cable crimps, stainless thimbles, and springs. All work needs to be completed before fish are ponded.
