Renovation of an educational facility in Hancock, Maryland. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

This project will replace the HVAC system at Hancock Elementary. The 37,441 sf school was originally built in 1977. The current HVAC system is comprised of six (6) Air Handling Units (AHU), seven (7) electric duct heaters, and three (3) cabinet unit heaters (CUH) that are original to the school. One (1) of the AHU's serves an existing zone damper/variable air volume system which tempers the administration area. The focus of this project to replace the entire aging HVAC system, as it has become unreliable and spare parts are no longer manufactured and are difficult to find. The project may necessitate roof and structural modifications for removal of the existing equipment and installation of new equipment (as they are located in mechanical spaces with limited accessibility). Other components of the HVAC system will be reviewed and replaced as deemed necessary. This project will ensure that all areas of the school will receive cooling. In all cases, the new systems will be designed to improve maintenance access. The new systems are to meet all code requirements and increase energy efficiency. A new direct digital control (DDC) temperature control system will be installed as part of this project, replacing a pneumatic control system. As a Category III facility, this project meets the criteria listed in Stipulation VI.A of the Programmatic Agreement between the Maryland Historic Trust and the Maryland Public School Construction Program for Compliance with the Maryland Historical Trust Act of 1985.. ****This project will not remove or modify any state-funded work that occurred during the last 15 years [Security Vestibule (2014 SI)]*** Estimated Bid Date: 1/19/2026 *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
