Demolition and site work for a mixed-use development in Port Angeles, Washington. Completed plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.
Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and permits to remove and dispose of, or remove and salvage, one log construction office building and one outbuilding including decommissioning the septic system, and disconnecting water, power, and telecommunications utilities. The work listed above shall beperformed on the North Olympic Wildlife Area (WLA) Site Demolition at the Department's North Olympic Wildlife Area, Morse Creek Unit Site, located at 33 Straitview Drive, Washington 98362, GPS Coordinates 48.1036974, -123.356027, in Clallam County, Engineer's Estimate: $50,000 No questions will be answered on-site; questions should be directed to email. If the project is estimated at or above one million dollars, a mandatory 15 percent Apprentice labor hours of the total labor hours are a requirement of this contract. The Apprenticeship Utilization Requirements are identified in Section 00100 Instructions To Bidder. Bidders may contact the Department of Labor & Industries, Apprenticeship Programs. The Department of Fish and Wildlife currently has an office building and outbuilding in need of extreme repairs. The decision was made that it is more cost-effective to remove the structures and supporting utility infrastructure and restore the area to its pre-building construction state. This project will remove the existing structures and provide opportunities for salvage and relocation of the log building. The completed project will also preserve the existing parking area, trellis, and interpretive signs. It will also provide additional, new, flat, grassy areas for interpretive activities. Bid Item 1: Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and permits to remove and dispose of or remove and salvage the log construction office building and outbuilding as follows: o Remove and proper disposal of asbestos-containing material: Includes removal and disposal of the materials identified in the Hazardous Materials Investigation Report by KD&S dated November 21, 2024, referenced in Attachment 3, in accordance with all legal requirements. o Demolish, remove and dispose of, or salvage and move to an approved off-site location, one log construction office building: Includes obtaining a demolition permit from the County, removal of the building, building contents, decks, supports, sidewalks, miscellaneous concrete, retaining walls, foundation, and associated posts, beams and appurtenances. Materials shall be disposed of in an approved landfill or salvaged and moved to an approved off-site location. Salvaged materials shall become the property of the contractor. o Demolish, remove, and dispose of one outbuilding: Includes obtaining a demolition permit from the County, removal and disposal of the building, building contents, concrete foundation, and associated posts, beams, appurtenances, and surrounding debris to include wood and rock within thirty feet of the structure. Materials shall be disposed of in an approved landfill or salvaged and moved to an approved off-site location. Salvaged materials shall become the property of the contractor. o Fill and grade crawl space, deck, and foundation removal areas: Includes filling and grading building removal areas to match surrounding grades and elevations to the full height of stem walls or to the height of immediately adjacent yard grades. Building areas are to be graded and restored with Crushed Surfacing Base Course such that grading provides the appearance that the buildings were never there. o Locate, demolish, and decommission the existing septic system: Includes decommissioning the septic system and removing and disposing of the tanks per County requirements, including hiring a local septic designer and obtaining any required permits. Includes restoration of disturbed areas to original grade and cover Locate, disconnect, and cap the existing water service: Includes disconnecting, capping and marking the water service at or within five feet of the water meter. Includes restoration of disturbed areas to original grade and cover. o Coordinate with electrical utility to de-energize utility secondaries: Includes removal of meter base and service entrance conduit(s). Includes removal of secondary wiring per PUD requirements and restoration of disturbed areas to original grade and cover. o Locate and remove telecommunications infrastructure: Includes removal of service telecommunications infrastructure associated with existing buildings. Includes termination per utility provider requirements and restoration of disturbed areas to original grade and cover. Includes restoration of disturbed areas to original grade and cover. o Hydroseed or seed and mulch all disturbed areas: Includes preparation, hydroseeding or seeding and mulching of all fill areas and other areas disturbed during construction. Disturbed gravel areas shall be restored in kind. o Coordinate with Cultural Resource Monitors: Includes providing 72-hour notice to WDFW-identified Cultural Resource Monitors prior to ground disturbance to allow cultural resource monitoring during all ground-disturbing activities. Substantial Completion shall be achieved by May 30, 2025. Final Completion shall be achieved by June 10, 2025.
