The Kent County Purchasing Division on behalf of Plainfield Township, is soliciting bids for 1.85 miles of Landscaping Improvements on Plainfield Avenue (M-44 North Connector) from Four Mile Road NE to Airway Street NE, Including Traffic Signal Improvements at Four Mile Road, Woodworth Street, Jupiter Avenue, And Five Mile Road. Funding is provided in part through a Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is therefore subject to Buy America Preferences requiring domestic content procurement of iron, steel, construction materials, and manufactured products as set forth in the Build America, Buy America Act (Appendix F). Award not to be issued until middle of April 2025. Each offer over $500,000 must be accompanied by a Bid Bond executed by the Respondent and payable to County of Kent for 5% of the total amount of the offer. Attorneys-in-fact who sign Bid Bonds, Payment Bonds or Performance Bonds must file a certified dated copy of their Power of Attorney. A certified check, bank draft, cashier's check, or negotiable U.S. Government bond (at par value) may be submitted In lieu of a Bid Bond. Personal checks are NOT acceptable. Each contract over $50,000 must be accompanied by a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each payable to the Owner (County of Kent) and each in the amount of 100% of the contract price with a corporate surety approved by the funding agency, for the faithful performance of the contract. The allowable on-site construction period for this project is 120 consecutive days from the start of the construction activity, with final completion on or before November 15, 2025. Awardee must coordinate schedule with MDOT and Progressive AE/Plainfield Charter Township. MDOT construction schedule to start May 27, 2025.
