The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is an independent special district that provides sustainable, accessible, community-focused, innovative, and environmentally responsible transportation solutions that promote regional vitality. VTA is responsible for bus, light rail, paratransit operations, congestion management, and specific highway improvement projects across Santa Clara County, serving all major cities and communities. The California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) has issued to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) both the Industrial General Permit (IGP) and the NPDES Utility Vault General Permit (Utility Vault Permit) for its facilities at Cerone, North, Chaboya, Guadalupe, and the Way Power and Signals divisions. The IGP regulates stormwater discharges associated with industrial activities to prevent pollutants from contaminating water sources. The Utility Vault Permit governs water discharge from utility vaults, requiring that pollutants are adequately managed and treated before being released into the environment.
