The City of Burlington, WA, invites qualified firms, teams, or individuals to submit their qualifications for the design and construction of a natural playscape in Maiben Park, a community park with an urban forest located at 1011 Greenleaf Avenue in the heart of Burlington. This innovative playscape will integrate natural elements, a water feature, and other sustainable components that align with the ecological and cultural context of western Washington. Our goal is to create a safe, accessible, and engaging environment that promotes outdoor play, education, and appreciation of nature for all ages. Questions regarding this RFQ must be submitted in writing to Sarah Ward no later than Tuesday, March 11, 2025 The selected firm/team will be responsible for the following: 1. Concept Development: Conduct community engagement sessions to gather input and feedback. Develop initial concepts that reflect the project goals and the unique characteristics of the site. 2. Design Phase: Provide detailed designs, including site plans, renderings, and construction documents. Ensure designs meet all applicable local, county, and state codes, including Skagit County's specific requirements and City of Burlington's ordinances. 3. Permitting Assistance: Support the City in obtaining necessary permits from local, county, and state agencies. 4. Construction and Implementation: Oversee the construction of the playscape, ensuring quality and adherence to the approved design. Implement safety and sustainability measures during construction. 5. Post-Construction Support: Provide maintenance recommendations and a detailed user guide for the playscape. Conduct a post-construction evaluation to ensure the playscape meets project goals.
