The City of Urbandale, Iowa, is seeking proposals from qualified engineering firms for engineering services for the design of a floodplain restoration project in the City of Urbandale, including performing preliminary and final design, bidding assistance services, and permitting services related to the project. The City of Urbandale 2025 stormwater improvements are focused on floodway restoration improvements. The selected consultant should choose from the following list of potential locations for floodway improvements or suggest alternative locations in City owned property: 1. Bent Creek Park 2. Walnut Creek Regional Park 3. Waterford Park The locations should be examined and the location with the maximum benefit for floodplain and vegetation restoration improvementsshould be chosen. Consideration should be taken to minimize impacts on existing City infrastructure in the parkland. The proposed designs should consider the costs of any permitting impacts to adjacent channels and wetlands in addition to the long-term stability of the creek banks. It is the Citys intent to bid this project in Spring of 2026 and have construction completed by the Spring of 2027. Related project items include grading, restoration, and associated permits.
