Ketchikan Project Title & Contract Description .: AMHS Low-No Emission Shuttle Ferry- Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering Services The Department is seeking a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Contractor to perform the design of new Hybrid Electric Powered Vessel for Marine and Offshore Applications. The vessel must meet Alaska Marine Highway Systems operational and performance requirements as a no-low emission hybrid shuttle ferry. The vessel must use innovative steerable electric podded propulsion system, and the Design will combine the drive motor, propeller, and steering into a single unit, eliminating the need for a separate propeller, rudder, steering gear, propulsion shafting, and associated machinery. The Hybrid system shall be incorporated into the design and must be capable of returning the vessel to Designated Safe Area or Port should the electric power sources fail Anticipated initial period for performance-Begin/End: April 01, 2025 to December 31, 2029 The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
