Site work and paving for a road / highway in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The project includes approximately 14 miles of HMA overlay (4 miles of mill and overlay) and an additional 10,000 tons (roughly 8 miles) of random patch work, totaling over 40,000 tons of HMA. Granular shouldering, earth shouldering, and pavement markings are also included in the project. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. It is the purchasing policy of Polk County to allow the Polk County Board of Supervisors the discretion of showing preference in purchasing materials, products, supplies, provisions, goods and services from Iowa based companies and or bidders who produce goods or maintain an office in Iowa. Preference may also be given to mate Further, it is the policy of Polk County to actively solicit and seek out local bidders of materials, products, supplies, provisions, goods and services and to encourage said bidders to stock and supply Iowa-made products.
