As of August 26, 2025, Project was abandoned. The Taft Union High School District is soliciting bids for structural additions of agriculturalshade to its existing farm facilities at its Taft Union High School Ag Farm location (900 N. 10thStreet, Taft, CA 93268; southeast behind the Buena Vista Continuation High School; see aerialmap attached). As a District that has elected to utilize CUPCCAA and given the current estimatedcosts, the District is pursuing this project under Informal Bidding procedures pursuant to Districtpolicy and CUPCCAA guidelines, with all bids submitted utilizing the District's CUPCCAAVendor Registration portal This proposed project desires to have two (2) additional open-air agricultural shadestructures measuring approximately 50' x 50' and 50' x 80', respectively added to this constructionarea within the existing farm facility. Accompanying this solicitation are aerial site photographs,maps, and details pertaining to this proposed project. Limited conceptual design specifications andstructure elevations are also included herein. All proposals must meet current, generally accepteddesign specifications, safety requirements, and comply with industry standard building code. Assuch, provided conceptual design specifications may need to be altered within vendor proposals toensure compliance. Additional details and requirements are also accompanying this notice. TUHSD has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in thelocality in which this work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker needed to executethis contract. These rates are on file at TUHSD's office, and a copy may be obtained uponrequest, or at www.dir.ca.gov. Contractor shall post a copy of these rates at the job site. ALLPROJECTS OVER $1,000 ARE SUBJECT TO PREVAILING WAGE MONITORINGAND ENFORCEMENT BY THE LABOR COMMISSIONER.It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded (CONTRACTOR),-and upon any SUBCONTRACTOR, to pay not less than the specified rates to all workersemployed by them in the execution of the contract. A Payment Bond for contracts over $25,000 and a Performance Bond for all contracts will be-required prior to commencement of work. These bonds shall be in the amounts and form calledfor in the Contract Documents.Pursuant to the provisions of Public Contract Code Section 22300, CONTRACTOR may-substitute certain securities for any funds withheld by TUHSD to ensure CONTRACTOR'sperformance under the contract. At the request and expense of CONTRACTOR, securitiesequivalent to any amount withheld shall be deposited, at the discretion of TUHSD, with eitherTUHSD or a state or federally chartered bank as the escrow agent, who shall then pay anyfunds otherwise subject to retention to CONTRACTOR. Upon satisfactory completion of thecontract, the securities shall be returned to CONTRACTOR.Securities eligible for investment shall include those listed in Government Code Section 16430,-bank and savings and loan certificates of deposit, interest bearing demand deposit accounts,standby letters of credit, or any other security mutually agreed to by CONTRACTOR andTUHSD. CONTRACTOR shall be the beneficial owner of any securities substituted for fundswithheld and shall receive any interest on them. The escrow agreement shall be in the formindicated in the Contract Documents.To bid on or perform the work stated in this Notice, CONTRACTOR must possess an-appropriate, valid, and active contractor's license. No CONTRACTOR or subcontractor shall be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal, subject to therequirements of 4104 of thePublic Contract Code, for a public works project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unlesscurrently registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and qualified to performpublic work pursuant to Labor Code 1725.5. No CONTRACTOR or subcontractor may beawarded a contract for public work on a public works project (awarded after April 1, 2015)unless registered with the DIR. DIR's web registration portal and all subcontractors must furnish electronic certified payroll records (eCPR)-to the Labor Commissioner monthly in PDF format. Registration is required to use the eCPRsystem.The following notice is given as required by Labor Code Section 1771.5(b)(1): CONTRACTOR-and any subcontractors are required to review and comply with the provisions of the CaliforniaLabor Code, Part 7, Chapter 1, beginning with Section 1720, as more fully discussed in theContract Documents. These sections contain specific requirements concerning, for example,determination and payment of prevailing wages, retention, inspection, and auditing payrollrecords, use of apprentices, payment of overtime compensation, securing workers'compensation insurance, and various criminal penalties or fines which may be imposed forviolations of the requirements of the chapter. Submission of a bid constitutesCONTRACTOR's representation that CONTRACTOR has thoroughly reviewed theserequirements.CONTRACTOR must provide current certificate(s) of liability insurance coverage, naming the-Taft Union High School and Taft Union High School District as Additional Insured andCertificate Holder. Minimum coverage levels must be as follows: 1) Commercial GeneralLiability insurance coverage of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million in aggregate, 2)Automobile Liability coverage for all CONTRACTOR owned and/or leased vehicles on-siteduring the project scope of $1 million, 3) Workers Compensation and Employers' Liabilitycoverage of $1 million per accident, with policy limits not less than $1 million.[check only one]-(a) X TUHSD will retain 5% of the amount of any progress payments.(b) TUHSD will retain 10% of the amount of any progress payments because the projecthas been found to be substantially complex on the basis of structure & design integrity.This Project requires does not require prequalification pursuant to AB 1565 of all general-contractors and all mechanical, electrical and plumbing subcontractors. If required, aPrequalification package may be obtained by downloading the necessaryforms from . A bidpackage will not be accepted from any bidder that is required to submit a completedquestionnaire and supporting documents pursuant to AB 1565, but has not done so at least ten(10) business days prior to the date fixed for the public opening of sealed bids or that has notbeen prequalified for at least five (5) business days prior to that date.
