Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Holland, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The project consists of furnishing all material and constructing the following (approximate quantities): 1,230 feet of 24-inch PS-115 gravity sanitary sewer 2,650 feet of 21-inch PS-115 gravity sanitary sewer 30 feet of bore & jack - 42 inch casing (1 location) 1,100 feet of 14"/20" force main abandonment (in place) 1,100 feet of 20" water transmission main removal 5,100 feet of concrete curb removal/replacement 6,350 tons of HMA pavement (driveways, pathway, road, parking lot) Maintenance of traffic Incidental cross culvert and storm sewer removal/replacement/repair Turf and landscaping restoration Including all necessary appurtenances and restoration. Document note : Bidder assumes sole risk for any project specifications and drawings, electronic or hard copy, obtained other than directly from Prein&Newhof. Hard copy drawings and specifications are available for the fee of $95.00 dollars, upon request. Prein&Newhof members who want to purchase the hard copy of the drawings only, may do so for $31.50 dollars. A $15 dollar charge will be added to all mailed drawings and/or specifications. Fees are payable by cash or check only and are not refunded. The work to be performed under this contract will be financed and paid for by funds received from Holland Charter Township. A bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check payable to Holland Charter Township in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total price shall accompany each bid. This surety shall bind the bidder for a period of ninety (90) days after the receipt of bids. Project substantial completion date is November 15, 2025. Project must be completed and ready for final payment by May 1, 2026. Project schedule includes several sequencing stages. See Appendix B of the Contract for additional sequencing information. The work must consist of furnishing and installing storm sewer pipe of the specified sizes in a trench and must include the construction of manholes, catch basins, and other appurtenant work. Excavating, trenching, and backfilling is specified in Section 2. The work must be performed in accordance with the specifications and drawings, the MDOT 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction and the following specifications. Force Main Description of Work All work, materials, construction methods, testing, measurement, and payment related to the construction of force main must conform to Section 7 of the Holland Charter Township specifications. Excavation, pipe embedment, and backfill must conform to Section 2 of the Holland Charter Township specifications. All dewatering, excavation, pipe embedment, backfill, and final acceptance testing must be included in the major force main items of work Ductile Iron Pipe Where noted on the drawings, ductile iron (DI) force main must be Class 52 ductile iron pipe and must conform to the requirements of AWWA C-151 (ANSI A21.51). All ductile iron force main pipe must be mechanical joint pipe, with Protecto 401 ceramic epoxy lining. All ductile iron pipe must conform to Section 7.02.01 of the Holland Charter Township Specifications. All ductile iron pipe must be assembled of components solely manufactured in the United States. All work, materials, equipment, testing, and labor related to the force main pipe must be included in the below pay items. Force main must be paid by the linear foot. Pipe embedment, trench backfill, and testing are included in the below pay item. Temporary plugs used for construction must be included in the major force main items of work Fittings All ductile iron fittings must conform to Section 7.02.01.02 of the Holland Charter Township Specifications and be in accordance with AWWA C-153 (ANSI A21.53) and must have a minimum pressure rating of 200 psi. All fittings must have Protecto 401 ceramic epoxy lining. Fittings must have mechanical joint and must be restrained using Megalug as manufactured by EBAA Iron Sales joint restraining glands. Plain end fittings will not be allowed. All ductile iron fittings must be assembled of components solely manufactured in the United States. All work, materials, equipment, testing, and labor related to the force main fittings must be included in the below pay items. Individual force main items must be paid per "each" unit. - 20-inch x 12-inch DI Offset Reducer, Force Main (w/ Protecto 401) - 20-inch DI Sleeve, Force Main (w/ Protecto 401) Joints All ductile iron pipe and fittings must be restrained mechanical joint pipe. Lining All ductile iron pipe and fittings must have Protecto 401 ceramic epoxy lining conforming to the requirements of AWWA C-104 (ANSI A21.4). Plastic Wrap for Pipe All ductile iron force main pipe and fittings must be wrapped in polyethylene encasement, with all joints taped twice around the pipe. Thrust Restraint Collar A thrust restraint must be installed on the existing 20-inch force main at 120 th Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard near the new force main discharge manhole, as shown on the plans. Mid-span restraint glands must be utilized were specified to install a mid-span thrust collar on ductile iron pipe. Glands must be Series 1100SDB "MEGALUGS" as manufactured by EBAA Iron Sales, Inc The Contractor is responsible to obtain concrete tests on the thrust restraint collar. All test reports must be provided by the testing agency to the Owner and Engineer. Testing of composite samples of fresh concrete obtained according to ASTM C 31 and ASTM C 172 must be performed according to the following requirements. Obtain one composite sample, four specimens, for each day's pour of each concrete mixture. The CompressiveStrength Tests must follow ASTM C 39: test one laboratory-cured specimen at 7 days and one set of two laboratory cured specimens at 28 days. A compressive-strength test must be the average compressive strength from a set of two specimens obtained from same composite sample and tested at age indicated. All work, materials, equipment, testing, and labor related to the thrust restraint collar must be included in the below pay item and paid per "each" unit. Concrete and rebar must be included in the major item of work listed below. - Restraint Device, Existing 20-inch Maintaining Existing Sewer Flows Operation of the Holland Charter Township wastewater collection system must not be interrupted. Wastewater must not be allowed to back up and surcharge within the system. Bypass pumping and/or pump and haul operations will be required for any work related to installation of the sanitary gravity sewer and connection to the existing force main. Contractor is responsible for developing their own bypass plan. No spills into the environment will be permitted. The Contractor must be responsible for any fines or damage as a result of failure of the bypass operation and must indemnify the Owner and Engineer from any liability from claims resulting from failure of the bypass operation. Any damage resulting from the Contractor's work must be repaired or replaced at no expense to the Owner.
