Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Holland, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

Contractor to coordinate date and time of sand removal around fence with Park Manager/Supervisor. Contractor will consult with Park Manager/Supervisor on the method and demonstrate for final approval. Snow fence is to be removed by the contractor in a manner that avoids excessive damage to the snow fence. Removed fence shall be rolled up (as tightly as possible) and stacked neatly in the north parking lot for removal by park staff. Park will provide pallets in the north lot for fence posts to be neatly stacked by contractor for removal by park staff. Sand relocation shall be executed throughout the Lake Michigan Unit of Holland State Park; including the Entrance/Exit (including the turn-around and fish dump pad), Channel walkway (including the outdoor classroom and benches), Parking areas, Activity Courts, Concession Building, Beach Campground and Picnic Areas. Contractor shall start with the entrance area, Beach Campground and Channel Picnic Area. Miss Dig must be contacted by the contractor before any work is performed allowing adequate time for buried utilities to be marked. All equipment used must be well maintained and free from major leaks. Any large leaks must be addressed immediately. Cleanup costs, if necessary, will be the responsibility of the contractor. The exact dates for sand relocation will be determined by the Park Supervisor prior to the contractor starting sand relocation. Sand to be relocated to the main Beach or Channel Picnic area, as designated by Park Supervisor. Sand is to be removed from the parking lots, camping areas, roadways, under signs and fixed tables, fixed benches, buildings, play structures and walkways, (hand work may be necessary) down to bare-pavement level; 10' from pavement edges and placed on the Beach at a 5% slope to Lake Michigan high water mark. Sand must be relocated along walkways and roads to fill low areas to grade, no low areas may have more than 3 inches from the top of the walkway or road. Sand to the north of the parking lot will be level with the pavement to the edge of the dune. Sand west of the Beach Campground and north of the camper's sidewalk to the beach will be relocated to the beach as directed by the Park Supervisor. The sidewalk south of the basketball court and north of the North parking lot will need to remove sand 15 feet from the edge of the sidewalk. See burgundy highlight on the map. Sand south of the east\west sidewalk on beach will be graded in a manner to form a gradual slope from grade to the channel wall or sidewalk as per Park Supervisor's direction. Any sand containing dune grass or debris shall be moved to the south end of the beach where the terminus of the East/West sidewalk ends and fill in that area. See blue highlight on the map. There shall be no sand left on the pavement in the Beach CG or the Main entry of the Day Use Area, see green highlight on the map. Some sand removed from west of beach campground will be relocated to Lake Macatawa Beach, The Boat House concession area, and the dog beach, per Park Supervisor's direction. Under no circumstances will sand be deposited into the water. Any damage to park property shall be reported to the Park Supervisor immediately. Contractor will move material in such a manner as to create a natural slope of approximately 5% from pavement to Lake Michigan or the channel wall/sidewalk levelling hills and valleys.
