The Florida State University (FSU) seeks to partner with a Design Professional for architectural and engineering design services focused on recovery and mitigation for the historic Ringling Ca' d'Zan Museum. The Ca' d'Zan Mansion, originally constructed in 1926 as the winter residence of John and Mable Ringling, spans 36,000 square feet, including a basement, three floors, and a tower. This building features a blend of Mediterranean architectural styles. Although the mansion experienced neglect over time, it underwent significant restoration through community fundraising and reopened in 2002. In 2000, the governance of the Ringling estate, including the Ca' d'Zan, transferred from the State of Florida to FSU. Since its restoration, the mansion has been maintained as a historic residence open to public tours. During the incident period, storm surge inundated and flooded the Ca' d'Zan basement up to approximately four feet. The mechanical equipment housed in the basement failed, including electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, fire suppression systems, and elevator. Presently, the building is operating with minimal mechanical and electrical utilities. The building is using temporary, air-conditioning equipment to maintain indoor temperature and relative humidity levels for the protection of the interior and the collections contained therein.
