It will replace the historic and iconic courthouse in downtown, which is 136 years old and likely to collapse in an earthquake. A medley of state, county and city officials crunched across a large gravel lot to gather around a mound of dirt with eight shovels — later reduced to six — as Benton County Commissioner Pat Malone and one other official were absent due to schedule conflicts. Final permitting items for the campus wrapped up in early April. With construction beginning, county officials project a spring 2027 completion date. The project aims to centralize justice services to enhance collaboration and efficiency, according to the county’s website. "This ground breaking has been a long anticipated journey down a bit of a winding road," said Benton County Commissioner Nancy Wyse. "These new buildings will contribute to a more efficient effective and resilient Benton County." District Attorney Ryan Joslin took a moment to remember driving past the current "beautiful historic" courthouse on his drives to University of Oregon during his undergrad but admits "the time is right for a new courthouse." Planning for justice improvements has been ongoing for the past six years. But the nearly $90 million investment has faced obstacles, from infrastructure challenges to legal disputes. Building is now beginning almost two years later than expected, with groundbreaking pushed back multiple times. According to Assistant County Administrator Rick Crager, the total project cost is $86.3 million, with 44% of that paid by the state and 41% paid by debt secured and paid back over time by Benton County. The remainder is paid by federal resources, investment earnings on bond proceeds and premium from the debt issued by the county, and other funds. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Please provide a proposal for architectural salvage, deconstruction, and demolition for the residential structure at 1350 NE 2nd Street in Corvallis, Oregon, 97330.
