As of July 30, 2025, project was awarded to XL Construction, awarded amount is $514,035.07. Buena Vista Horace Mann (BVHM) K-8 Community School is located in San Francisco's Mission district at 3351 23rd Street in San Francisco. This modernization project will rehabilitate all existing buildings on campus and construct a new 2-story addition that will replace the existing one story kitchen and cafeteria building. The estimated project duration is thirty-two (32) months with an anticipated June 2025 Notice to Proceed. The project scope includes but is not limited to: a full modernization of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, telecommunications, security), full replacement of the fire alarm system, seismic improvements to existing shear walls, new exterior windows, roofing and existing exterior finish repair, interior construction and finishes (flooring, ceiling, painting), accessibility improvements of new bathrooms on every level, and replacement of the majority of the fire sprinkler system components in all buildings. Site work includes new ramps, stairs, play yard improvements and stormwater management elements. Hazardous materials abatement is required throughout the campus. All of the work will be occurring on a tight site located in a dense urban area in the heart of the Mission District in San Francisco, CA.
