Renovation of a municipal facility in Richmond, Virginia. Working plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The City of Richmond is requesting bids for the demolition, building, and installation of courtroom furniture at five courtrooms at Oliver Hill Courthouse in Richmond, VA. The intent of this project is to replace the existing furniture to enhance functionality, aesthetics, and user experience while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and safety standards. The selected contractor will be responsible for managing the entire process from start to finish, ensuring all work is completed within a specified and approved timeframe and to the satisfaction of the City of Richmond. Question Submission Deadline:April 3, 2025, 4:00pm All inquiries requesting clarification of this Invitation for Bids should be made through online Question Response Deadline:April 7, 2025, 5:00pm In accordance with section "Minority Business Enterprise / Emerging Small Business Participation" of Part 2 ("Instructions to Bidders") of this Invitation for Bids, it has been determined for this solicitation the minority business enterprise and emerging small business participation of 0% is reasonably possible given the availability of minority business enterprises and emerging small businesses for the scope of work covered by this solicitation. Bid Result - Generally - Arnold Kolax Furniture - $65,981.25 Courtroom Furniture - Arnold Kolax Furniture - 510,765.00 The work includes, but is not limited to, the following specifications: A. Demolition of Existing Furniture. 1. Remove the existing litigants' tables (2), probation officers' desk (1), witness stand (1), judges' bench (1), clerks' desk (1) probation officers' table spectator rails/knee-walls (2) bailiff desk (1), front desk (1) and wall/bookcase behind judges' bench (1) in each of the 5 courtrooms. 2. Dispose of all debris responsibly, adhering to local codes and regulations for waste management. 3. Conduct an inventory of salvaged items and provide a report of reusable materials to the City of Richmond. B. Building New Furniture. 1. Design and fabricate custom furniture pieces according to the provided design specifications, including but not limited to: a. Desks: Executive desks, reception desks, standing desks, etc. b. Storage: File cabinets, bookshelves, and other storage solutions. 2. Provide wood samples and stain finish for review and approval prior to production of the new furniture. 3. Provide 2 different designs of the face panels of the judges' bench, witness stand, spectator rails/knee walls and present to city representative for review and approval of the chosen design before production. a. The designs should be modern in comparison to the current furniture. b. The two designs or samples of the design should be submitted along with the bid. 4. Ensure all furniture items meet relevant standards including: a. ANSI/BIFMA standards for commercial furniture quality and safety. b. American Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility requirements. 5. Use sustainable materials sourced from environmentally responsible suppliers. C. Installation of New Furniture. 1. Provide installation services for all newly fabricated furniture. 2. Coordinate with City personnel to ensure seamless integration with existing structures and services.
