The project is located at two Sites: Site One is the 4th Street Bridge over railroad, and Site Two is the Floyd Boulevard Bridge over 3rd Street and railroad. Each site includes overlaying the bridge deck and substructure repairs. Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier's check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract. Contractors may bid Alternative A for this Project or Alternative B or both. Both Alternatives have an early start date of May 12, 2025 and a late start date of May 19, 2025. Alternative A shall require simultaneous work on Site One and Site Two (closure of both bridges) and shall be completed on or before November 26, 2025. Alternative B shall require consecutive closure of the Bridges; work shall be done on one site at a time. The work on this project for Alternative B shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully complete within 170 working days. The bid award shall be made solely upon the low bid. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City.
