Site work and paving for a civil project in Bessemer, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

The intent of the bid is to remove excess maintenance gravel from a culvert patch and pave the patch. Project location: County-wide (See attached location maps). All work described below (including Measurement and Payment) shall be as described in the MDOT "2020 Standard Specifications for Construction" (Standard Specifications), except as modified herein. Mobilization shall be included in the bid items presented and will not be paid for separately. Airport Road culvert patches shall be completed on or before May 29, 2025. Locations A) thru M). South Davis Road culvert patches (Locations R and S) will not be ready for paving until after August 1, 2025. All other projects shall be completed in its entirety on or before August 30, 2025. Additional projects may be added to the proposal by the road commission as they arise throughout the summer. Negotiated cost will be agreed upon prior to any additional work being completed. Successful Bidder shall execute the Contract for Construction of a Small Project with the GCRC, attached. Including insurance requirements, performance bond, payment bond, etc. Saw cutting where shown on plans or to match into existing shall be considered incidental to this bid item. The work shall consist of Shoulder, Inch as shown in the typical sections. The work shall be completed in accordance with section 307 of the Standard Specifications for Construction. Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining traffic, minor traffic devices, traffic regulator control and signage for the Contractor operation. Advance warning signage shall be in accordance with MDOT specification for lane closure or as agreed upon by the Engineer and Contractor. Traffic Regulator Control shall be provided during the operation of work with minor traffic devices used during construction and after working hours to provide safe travelable roadway for the public. All Patches shall be constructed under traffic. HMA may be removed prior to paving, but temporary gravel ramps must be installed to smoothly allow for traffic to safely cross the patch. Temporary gravel ramp material to be removed prior to paving. This material may be used as shoulder gravel. This item shall include the removal of HMA, millings, or excess maintenance gravel to a depth required for HMA placement relative to the adjacent roadway. The remaining gravel shall be graded and compacted. Excess gravel may be used as shoulder gravel. HMA shall be saw cut in a clean, straight line. Machine Grading shall be paid for by the Syd, measured from shoulder hinge point to hinge point. Start work within ten (10) days after receiving notice of award of the contract or on or before the date designated as the starting date in the Detailed Progress Schedule. In no case, shall any work be commenced prior to receipt of formal notice of award by the department. Bid description: The bid specifications may be obtained at the Bessemer office of the road commission or from the link below. Bids are to be submitted in a sealed envelope and plainly marked on the outside of the envelope which item is being bid. The Board will accept a fax bid at (906) 663-4807, or by email jlinn@gogebic.gov provided it is followed by receipt of the original signed bid by mail. The approved low bidder(s) for the work covered by this proposal will be required to participate in a pre-construction meeting with local agency owner and/or department representatives to work out a detailed progress schedule. The schedule for this meeting will be set within one week after the contract is awarded. The Geogenic County Road Commission will arrange the time and place for the meeting. The Progress Schedule shall include, as a minimum, the controlling work items for the completion of the project and the planned dates (or work day for a work day project) that these work items will be controlling operations. When specified in the bidding proposal, the date the project is to be opened to traffic as well as the final project completion date shall also be included in the project schedule. Measurement and payment shall be on the basis of the measured square yard, load ticket tonnage or lump sum quantities. The contractor shall measure the area with the Road Commission and submit an invoice for agreed quantity upon completion of all work. The BIDDER agrees to perform all described work in the Contract Documents for the following unit and/or lump sum prices. The BIDDER further agrees that the unit and/or lump sum prices include the furnishing of all Labor, materials, tool, equipment, utilities, transportation, taxes, fees, etc., required to complete the work in strict accordance with the Contract Documents. By submission of this Bid, each party thereto certifies as to his/her own organization, that this Bid has been arrived at independently, without consultation, communication or agreement as to any matter relating to this Bid with any other Bidder or with any competitor. The BIDDER agrees to perform all described work in the Contract Documents for the following unit and/or lump sum prices. The BIDDER further agrees that the unit and/or lump sum prices include the furnishing of all labor, materials, tool, equipment, utilities, transportation, taxes, fees, etc., required to complete the work in strict accordance with the Contract Documents. The quantity shown in the Bid Schedule is an estimated minimum. If some of the optional sections are selected by the Townships, more will be added to the contract. The Board reserves the right to reject or accept any bid or all bids or to waive irregularities and to accept any bid that, in the opinion of the Board, is to the best interest and advantage of the County of Geogenic. Machine Grading This item shall include the removal of HMA, millings, or excess maintenance gravel to a depth required for HMA placement relative to the adjacent roadway. The remaining gravel shall be graded and compacted. Excess gravel may be used as shoulder gravel. HMA shall be saw cut in a clean, straight line. Machine Grading shall be paid for by the Syd, measured from shoulder hinge point to hinge point. HMA Surface, Rem Saw cutting where shown on plans or to match into existing shall be considered incidental to this bid item. Work includes all labor, materials, equipment, services, and documentation necessary to construct the Project defined herein. The Work may include related services such as testing, start-up, and commissioning, all as required by the Contract Documents. B. The Contractor shall complete all Work as specified or indicated in the Contract Documents. The Project is generally described as follows: 1. 2025 HMA Patch Paving Services. Items included: HMA removals, Machine Grading, HMA 4EL, and miscellaneous other items. 2. The Site of the Work includes property, easements, and designated work areas described in greater detail in the Contract Documents but generally located at multiple locations throughout Gogebic County.
