The Borough of Catasauqua is performing improvements on Walnut Street. This project is funded by Borough capital funds and PennDOT Liquid Fuels funds. In general, the work consists of but is not limited to: asphalt pavement milling, pavement base repairs, installation of both asphalt leveling/scratch course and wearing course, and replacement of pavement markings. The work also includes mobilization, maintenance and protection of traffic; and erosion and sediment controls, as necessary to perform the work. Upon award of a contract, the Successful Bidder shall provide a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the awarded contract value. Upon completion of the contract, the Successful Bidder shall provide a 2-year Maintenance Bond in the amount of 100% of the final contract value. Bidders are required to comply with the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of 1961, P.L. 987, No. 442, where the project cost is $25,000 or above for public work or $100,000 or above for locally funded highway and bridge projects. Site Location A. The project site is located in the Borough of Catasauqua, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The project consists of: 1. Walnut Street between Howertown Road and the driveway entrance at the YMCA Property. 1.02 Project Description A. The Borough of Catasauqua is performing improvements on Walnut Street. This project is funded by Borough capital funds and PennDOT Liquid Fuels funds. In general, the work consists of but is not limited to: asphalt pavement milling, pavement base repairs, installation of both asphalt leveling/scratch course and wearing course, and replacement of pavement markings. The work also includes mobilization, maintenance and protection of traffic; and erosion and sediment controls, as necessary to perform the work. The scope of work is more fully described in the Project Specifications herein and on the Project Plans. 1.03 Work Included A. Base Bid 1. Mobilization(s), maintenance and protection of traffic (both vehicular and pedestrian), and temporary erosion and sediment controls as required to perform the work. 2. Pavement Resurfacing, Base Repairs, and Pavement Markings. a. The limits for asphalt pavement milling and paving shall be the North side of Walnut Street from a point just East of the intersection with St. John Street to a point within the intersection with the driveway entrance to the YMCA property as shown on the plans. b. The Contractor shall inventory all existing striping and pavement markings before beginning of milling operations. c. The Contractor shall sawcut existing asphalt as required to provide quality, neat and even joints between existing and proposed surfaces. d. The Contractor shall perform asphalt pavement milling of 1.5" depth on existing asphalt roadway surfaces as shown on the plans. e. The Contractor shall clean and seal any cracks greater than 1/4 " width in accordance with the specifications herein, where directed by the Engineer. f. The Contractor shall provide a fully loaded tri-axle dump truck to proof roll the milled roadway surface. The limits and types of base repairs shall be determined and marked out by the Borough during the proof roll. g. At the direction of the Borough, the Contractor shall install a leveling/scratch course of asphalt wearing course material. Scope of Work 00000-2 h. The Contractor shall hot tack the roadway before placement of wearing course. i. The Contractor shall install new 1.5" thick wearing course pavement on all roadways listed. j. The Contractor shall seal all curbs, inlets, manholes, water boxes, driveways, etc. after resurfacing. k. Contractor shall replace all pavement markings as per the inventory taken prior to milling. 3. Adjustment of manholes and utilities as needed to install new wearing course overlay. 4. The Contractor shall replace all existing pavement markings on resurfaced roadways as well as new crosswalk pavements at ADA curb ramps. 5. The Contractor shall seal all asphalt joints per the provided construction details. Separate payments will not be made for sealing joints but shall be included in the various items of the proposal.
