RFP - Multi - Use Trail at the Walter Elwood Museum BACKGROUND Montgomery County received a Mohawk River Watershed Grant from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to construct an interpretive trail at the Walter Elwood Museum. BUDGET The total project budget, including all consultant fees, and other related costs is $50,000 as the project hinges on grant funding. PROJECT DESCRIPTION 1. Project Description The goal is to add a new segment of the Chuctanunda Creek Trail in the City of Amsterdam that begins at the Walter Elwood Museum and ends at Willow St. The location and partnership with The Walter Elwood Museum provides the opportunity for the trail segment to advance the museums goals of providing rich learning environments by providing trail users and museum goers with a nature based learning experience in addition to highlighting Chuctanunda creek heritage. The trail will be approximately 500 ft. long and be situated adjacent to the Chuctanunda creek where a current large parking lot for former mill workers currently exists. The trail will be 10feet wide to allow for multi-use and will include a 10-foot buffer for plantings between the trail and the existing parking lot. Proposals should include cost estimates for both asphalt and crushed limestone surfaces. The project location is on three parcels owned by The Museum. A working site plan map has been attached for guidance.
