Site work and asbestos abatement for a municipal facility in Amsterdam, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility; and for asbestos abatement for a municipal facility.

As of September 5, 2025 this project was awarded to Ambient Environmental, but the awarded amount is not avialble This RFP pertains to the services of an independent environmental firm to act as a Project Monitor undertake air monitoring and all other services as required to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Air monitoring shall be conducted by the Project Monitor to ensure that the demolition contractor is complying with EPA, New York State and any applicable local government regulations, all appropriate applicable variances and any pertinent site-specific variance petition decisions. Air monitoring shall be conducted according to the method prescribed by 29 CFR 1926.1101 - Appendix A; 40 CFR 763 Subpart E - Appendix A; New York State Industrial Code Rule 56 and all appropriate applicable variances and any pertinent site-specific variance petition decisions. The selected firm will also be responsible for preparing and/or updating DOL variances as required to complete the project. The City of Amsterdam has a blanket variance issued by the New York State Department of Labor. However, this variance may not apply to the proposed demolition project, and individual DOL variances may be required for each demolition site. Contract term: 6 Months PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project is the demolition of unsafe buildings in the City's East End neighborhood and Market Hill neighborhood. The City has identified 23 homes in these neighborhoods that have been vacant for over 20 years, and are in seriously deteriorated condition, and have been declared unsafe buildings. All of these buildings are in a state of collapse, and are both a hazard to the surrounding neighborhood, and a blighting influence. The program will include demolition of the buildings, disposal the demolition debris in an approved landfill, backfilling and grading and seeding the site. Asbestos abatement prior to demolition is not possible, due to the unstable condition of the buildings, and controlled demolition methods are to be utilized. The Project will include preparation of plans and specifications, bidding of demolition work, awarding of a demolition contract, oversight of the demolition process, hiring an independent environmental firm to undertake air monitoring, as well as compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations. Women- owned and minority-owned businesses and Section 3 businesses are strongly encouraged to submit responses to the RFP.
